Lackner 6-in-1 Tutorial

If you are a subscriber to Lackner 6-in-1 Windows and use EstateVal as your source for security valuations, the EstateVal/Lackner 6-in-1 interface can eliminate manual entry of data between the packages.

The EstateVal/Lackner 6-in-1 interface is easy to use—data from Lackner 6-in-1 is automatically exported to EstateVal, priced, and then returned to 6-in-1.

To use the interface, just follow these steps:

  • Add an estate in Lackner 6-in-1, and activate 706 and Transactions
  • After filling in the decedent’s information, click the 6-in-1 button and select Transactions
  • Start entering your securities by adding a CUSIP, Name and the Units for each; click the down arrow for US 706 to designate a Schedule
  • Click on New Trans to enter a new security and click Prev or Next to view the securities entered; a list will also show on the right-hand side of the entry screen
  • When all the securities are entered, click EVP and you will be asked if you would like the securities valued through EstateVal, click OK
  • If the program path and data path are not found, you can either select the Default directory of EstateVal or click Detect to let the computer look for the program and data files
  • You will be asked again if you would like to Continue or Cancel; if you choose to continue, EstateVal will launch and a list of the securities is displayed; a file named LACKAP.EVP will be created hold the data for EstateVal
  • Now, in EstateVal, select Evaluate → Date of Death to send your securities for pricing
  • When the evaluation completes and the report appears, close it, and then close EstateVal
  • Click Continue in 6-in-1 and you will taken back to the the main screen, where the security values are then posted for each security
  • Click 6-in-1 and choose US Estate Tax Return to display Form 706
  • Click View Scheds A-O and select a Schedule to get to that schedule and view what was imported
