If you are a subscriber to Lackner 6-in-1 Windows and use EstateVal as your source for security valuations, the EstateVal/Lackner 6-in-1 interface can eliminate manual entry of data between the packages.
The EstateVal/Lackner 6-in-1 interface is easy to use—data from Lackner 6-in-1 is automatically exported to EstateVal, priced, and then returned to 6-in-1.
To use the interface, just follow these steps:
- Add an estate in Lackner 6-in-1, and activate
706andTransactions - After filling in the decedent’s information, click the
6-in-1button and selectTransactions - Start entering your securities by adding a
CUSIP,Nameand theUnitsfor each; click the down arrow forUS 706to designate aSchedule - Click on
New Transto enter a new security and clickPrevorNextto view the securities entered; a list will also show on the right-hand side of the entry screen - When all the securities are entered, click
EVPand you will be asked if you would like the securities valued through EstateVal, clickOK - If the program path and data path are not found, you can either select the
Defaultdirectory of EstateVal or clickDetectto let the computer look for the program and data files - You will be asked again if you would like to
ContinueorCancel; if you choose to continue, EstateVal will launch and a list of the securities is displayed; a file namedLACKAP.EVPwill be created hold the data for EstateVal - Now, in EstateVal, select
Evaluate → Date of Deathto send your securities for pricing - When the evaluation completes and the report appears, close it, and then close EstateVal
- Click
Continuein 6-in-1 and you will taken back to the the main screen, where the security values are then posted for each security - Click
6-in-1and chooseUS Estate Tax Returnto display Form 706 - Click
View Scheds A-Oand select a Schedule to get to that schedule and view what was imported
