EstateVal and the other applications of EVP Office have been automatically updated to include the two additional holidays that the Japanese stock market will celebrate during 2019’s “Golden Week.” Evaluations run on Japanese securities between April 29th and May 6th will be priced and have their weighted means calculated correctly. Other national markets are unaffected.
The Japanese stock market is traditionally closed for four days during “Golden Week,” the time between Shōwa Day (April 29) and Children’s Day (May 5) that includes both Constitution Memorial Day (May 3) and Greenery Day (May 4). In 2019, two additional market holidays have been added to celebrate the abdication of Emperor Akihito, and the accession of his son, Crown Prince Naruhito, to the Chrysanthemum Throne. For 2019 only, Abdication Day will be celebrated on April 30, and Accession Day on May 1. Children’s Day will be moved to May 6. With the additions, the Japanese stock market will be closed for six business days, across ten calendar days.
In 2020 and beyond, Accession Day will replaced Children’s Day and be celebrated on May 6, while Constitution Memorial Day will move to May 5. EVP Office will, of course, be updated to reflect this.
