With the worst wildfires in the state’s history raging across California, EVP Systems would like to assure our clients that our staff is safe, and there will be no disruption in the ability to use EstateVal or any of our other products or services.
EVP Systems has an office in Woodland Hills, California, adjacent to the eastern-most edge of the Woolsey fire, but the official fire perimeter is over four and a half miles away, and the office is not covered by an evacuation order. The company headquarters is located in Santa Barbara, California, and has no close-by fires.
If an evacuation of either office is ever required, procedures are in place to allow the company — and EstateVal — to continue to function without pause. All of EVP’s technological infrastructure is redundant, with two stand-alone instances hosted in geographically-diverse Amazon Web Services data centers in Virginia. The California offices are both stocked with pre-configured laptops that can be grabbed during an evacuation and immediately connected to cloud-based e-mail, file storage, and inter-company chat. The phone system is VOIP (voice over IP) and can be redirected anywhere there is an Internet connection. Faxes are virtual and delivered via e-mail.
In fact, EVP Systems ran a disaster recovery exercise this summer, evacuating the Woodland Hills office and running all our services for a day from Santa Barbara, without a hiccup.
The fires currently raging in California have been devastating — people have lost their homes, their communities, even their lives. In the face of such a disaster, it can be important to know that normal life — and business — can and does go on. EVP Systems has put enormous effort into making that possible.
If you would like to join EVP Systems in donating to help in the recovery, you can find out how by visiting the Red Cross at their website, or calling them at (800) RED-CROSS. You can also text CAWILDFIRES to 90999 to make a quick $10 donation that will appear on your cell-phone bill.
