Open Source at EVP Systems: libCurl

Last year, EVP Systems announced its on-going support for the open-source software that we use in our products—first-in-class libraries and code that go to make EstateVal and the other EVP Office applications the best available.

For 2023, we’re celebrating libCurl, an amazing library for communicating over the Internet. libCurl was originally created in March 1998 by Daniel Stenberg, and has been continuously expanded and improved by thousands of people ever since. libCurl is used in millions of application from companies such as Apple, AT&T, Epson, Facebook, Google, IBM, Instagram, JVC, LG, Microsoft, Motorola, Netflix, Oracle, Samsung, Toshiba, Yahoo, and literally thousands of others.

libCurl is so pervasive and widely trusted that it’s even used in cars—as part of the software that actually runs on the car itself—from BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Ford, GMC, Hyundai, Mazda, Nissan, Renault, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen and others.

NASA has even sent it to Mars!

As for EVP Systems, our applications use libCurl to manage all encrypted communication, proxy support (including automatic NTLM authentication), and the IPv6 support that the IRS requires for its vendors. The library has been a huge boon, offering bullet-proof code that runs perfectly. As with all great open-source projects, the team that does this work and then gives it away for free is providing an almost incalculable benefit to—literally—billions of users.

For 2023, EVP Systems is contributing financial support to libCurl as a Silver Sponsor, along with our deep gratitude.
